Kel-71509-NativeBee

Thanks to RickT at The Mindful Eye’s community, I found out this lil critter is a native bee and not a fly as I originally suspected.  I was practing my macro shooting out on my deck this summer when I was fortunate to have it pose for me.  This is my Nana’s favorite photo.  When I spent time with her in September she remarked over and over ”that camera sure takes good pictures”.  I love you Nana!

Wee Hours

For the most part I am an insominac and as such it’s not unusual for me to be outside photographing at o’dark thirty.  I took this photo around 2 a.m. and was practicing night photography/long exposure.  There’s a flood light off the side of our deck that I had turned on and seemed to highlight the branches of this bush.  In the original image size you can acutally see a few cobwebs attaached to the branches, but that didn’t translate well once I resized it for this post.  This has not been retouched and I’m not sure it needs to be -I quite like the composition of it and you?

Party of One

Yet another experience in macro shooting.  I happened to get a fly that was fairly patient while I snapped a few shots.  I swear I don’t have an insect fettish, in fact those who know me know otherwise…but they do seem to be attracted to the camera, at least around my backyard & deck.
